We covered the Vancouver Marathon on a rare, scorching day that turned every aid station into a story of its own. Heat changes everything in a marathon, and it showed in the best way possible; close-up moments of strain and joy, water poured over heads at aid stations, and runners finding brief relief before stepping back into the effort. We focused on the small, human details that define the race experience: pre-race rituals unfolding in clusters of nervous energy, glittered-up bodies warming up in the early light, and the quiet focus before the gun.
